The Falcon Lake UFO Incident of 1967 and Its Mysterious Physical Evidence
On May 20, 1967, Canadian prospector Stefan Michalak ventured into the wilderness near Falcon Lake, Manitoba, searching for valuable minerals.
Instead, he claimed to encounter two mysterious flying objects, one of which landed nearby.
The incident sparked a major UFO investigation involving strange burns, radioactive evidence, and questions that remain unanswered.
Two Strange Objects Descend From the Sky
Michalak was examining a quartz formation in Whiteshell Provincial Park when the sudden cries of nearby geese caught his attention.
Looking upward, he spotted two glowing, reddish objects descending from the sky.
One reportedly hovered before disappearing into the distance, while the other landed on a rocky outcrop approximately 160 feet away.
In his written account, My Encounter with the UFO, Michalak recalled the extraordinary sight.
“Then I saw them. Two cigar-shaped objects with humps on them about halfway down from the sky.” – Stefan Michalak, My Encounter with the UFO
As Michalak watched, the landed object reportedly changed colors, eventually resembling polished stainless steel surrounded by a golden glow.
He spent approximately half an hour observing and sketching the mysterious craft before approaching it.

Believing it might be an experimental aircraft experiencing mechanical difficulties, Michalak called out to anyone inside.
Receiving no response, he moved closer and touched its smooth metallic surface, discovering that it was extremely hot.
However, things were about to take a dangerous turn for the dude.
A Mysterious Blast Leaves Strange Burns
According to Michalak, the object suddenly rotated, releasing a blast of scorching gas through openings in its exterior.
The force knocked him backward, setting his clothing ablaze before the craft lifted off and disappeared.
Burned and disoriented, Michalak eventually reached a nearby highway, where he encountered RCMP Constable G. A. Solotki, who documented his unusual behavior.
“He said I might get some sort of skin disease or radiation if I came too close. He seemed very upset.” – Constable G. A. Solotki, RCMP Report, 1967
Michalak subsequently received medical attention in Winnipeg.
Doctors documented burns across his chest and abdomen, including an unusual pattern of marks that later became one of the incident’s most recognizable features.

He also reported headaches, nausea, vomiting, and considerable weight loss following the encounter.
Was this something alien, or you think he burned his own ass for a publicity stunt?
Radioactive Evidence and a Government Investigation
The strange injuries attracted the attention of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police and Royal Canadian Air Force.
Investigators interviewed Michalak, examined his damaged clothing, and eventually located the alleged landing site.
Perhaps the most intriguing discovery involved radioactive contamination detected in a small area of soil and rock.
Later investigations also examined unusual metallic fragments reportedly recovered from the location.

UFO researcher Chris Rutkowski, who spent decades investigating the incident, discussed the surviving evidence in an interview preserved by Library and Archives Canada.
“We have the analyses of the metal, there are photographs from this site. We have a fairly good description of where this occurred.” – Chris Rutkowski, Library and Archives Canada Interview
The investigation produced extensive documentation, including police reports, medical examinations, photographs, sketches, and laboratory analyses.
However, investigators couldn’t establish a definitive connection between the physical evidence and the mysterious craft Michalak described.
The RCMP acknowledged unexplained aspects of the incident, including his injuries and markings at the alleged landing site.
Despite years of investigation, the object’s identity remained a mystery.
The Unanswered Questions of Falcon Lake
Nearly six decades later, the Falcon Lake UFO incident remains one of Canada’s most remarkable close encounters.
With documented injuries, unusual physical evidence, and extensive government records, the case continues to raise questions about what Michalak encountered in the Manitoba wilderness.
Whatever happened that afternoon, the mystery remains unabducted.
